MOVEMENT OF ASCENDING FIGURES, 1994. Compact block of Vicenza stone

In a compact block of Vicenza stone, the sculpture was sculpted on behalf of the family that owns the historic hotel located in the central Piazza Cisterna. The stele tells a story, a family tradition that unites various generations; from bottom to top it develops on a frontal diagonal with respect to the viewer.

The first of the figural elements that can be read in the composition is located at the bottom right, where two people are placed side by side, the initiating founders of the hotel business. From that position a first circle of figures starts, followed by a second and a third, in a slow semi-spiral that rises intentionally incomplete, interrupted at the back of the work due to the wall which would have blocked the view anyway. At the top of the stele a dance, in which the figure of a little girl stands out: to the left and right of her a circular dance that opens and intends to allude to the corolla of a flower.

BEWEGUNG DER AUFSTEIGENDEN FIGUREN, 1994. Kompakter Block aus Pietra vicentina

Die Skulptur wurde im Auftrag der Eigentümerfamilie des historischen Hotels an der zentralen Piazza Cisterna in einen kompakten Block aus Vicenza-Stein gehauen. Die Stele erzählt eine Geschichte, eine mehrere Generationen verbindende Familientradition, die sich von unten nach oben in einer Diagonale vor dem Betrachter entfaltet.

Das erste figurale Element, das in der Komposition zu lesen ist, befindet sich unten rechts, wo zwei Personen nebeneinander stehen, die Gründer des Hotelunternehmens. Von dieser Position aus beginnt ein erster Figurenkreis, gefolgt von einem zweiten und einem dritten, in einer langsamen Halbspirale, die absichtlich unvollständig aufsteigt und im hinteren Teil des Werks durch die Wand unterbrochen wird, die den Blick ohnehin versperrt hätte. Oben auf der Stele befindet sich ein Tanz, in dem die Figur eines kleinen Mädchens hervorsticht: links und rechts von ihr öffnet sich ein kreisförmiger Tanz, der auf die Blumenkrone anspielen soll.

In un blocco compatto di Pietra vicentina, la scultura è stata scolpita su incarico della famiglia proprietaria dell’Hotel storico situato nella centrale Piazza Cisterna. La stele racconta una storia, una tradizione di famiglia che unisce varie generazioni; dal basso verso l’alto si sviluppa su una diagonale frontale rispetto allo spettatore.

Il primo degli elementi figurali che si leggono nella composizione è situato in basso a destra, dove sono collocati due persone affiancate, i fondatori iniziatori dell’attività alberghiera. Da quella posizione prende l’avvio un primo circolo di figure, a cui segue un secondo e un terzo, in una lenta semi spirale che sale intenzionalmente incompleta, interrotta sul retro dell’opera a causa della parete che ne avrebbe comunque interdetto la vista. Al culmine della stele una danza, nella quale primeggia la figura di una bambina: alla sinistra e alla destra di lei una danza circolare che si apre e intende alludere alla corolla di un fiore.
