New presentation of the sculpture / Neuaufstellung der Skulptur / Riposizionamento della scultura
Acquired by the University of Bonn and installed in this courtyard in 2026, “Tanz im Kreis” is the centrepiece of the seven sculptures that were placed along the green axis of the Rhine – Poppelsdorfer Allee – Schlosspark during 2016. The exhibition, entitled “From the Rhine to the University”, was organised as part of the celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the University’s foundation.
Born out of close collaboration between the artist and the then Chancellor, Dr Reinhardt Lutz, it aimed to express, through a public art project, the organic link between the historical development of the city and that of the University.
„Tanz im Kreis“ wurde von der Universität Bonn erworben und im Jahr 2026 in diesem Innenhof aufgestellt. Es ist die bedeutendste der sieben Skulpturen, die 2016 für das Projekt „Dal Reno all’Università“ (Vom Rhein zur Universität) im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten zum 200-jährigen Bestehen der Universität entlang der grünen Achse Rhein – Poppelsdorfer Allee – Schlosspark aufgestellt wurden.
Entstanden ist die Edelstahl-Skulptur dank der intensiven Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Künstler und dem damaligen Kanzler Dr. Reinhardt Lutz und hatte zum Ziel, die organische Verbindung zwischen der historischen Entwicklung der Stadt und der der Universität im öffentlichen Raum zum Ausdruck zu bringen.
Acquisita dall’Università di Bonn e installata in questo cortile nell’anno 2026, “Tanz im Kreis” è la principale delle 7 sculture che nel corso dell’anno 2016 erano collocate lungo l’asse verde Reno – PoppelsdorferAllee – Schlosspark. La mostra, che aveva per titolo “Dal Reno all’Università”, è stata realizzata nel quadro dei festeggiamenti dei 200 anni dalla fondazione dell’Università.
Nata grazie all’intensa collaborazione tra l’artista e il Cancelliere di allora Dr. Reinhardt Lutz, essa aveva l’intento di esprimere con un progetto di arte pubblica il legame organico tra lo sviluppo storico della città e quello dell’Istituzione universitaria.
